Super HERO screening process:

  • - In order to ensure the safety of our children, all volunteers must submit to a thorough screening process, including extensive background and reference checks, and an in-person interview.
  • - A volunteer who has a history of substance abuse must be chemically free for a minimum of five (5) years prior to submitting an application.
  • - Volunteers who have been convicted of a felony crime, sex offense, DUI, or have a poor driving record (more than 5 offenses within the past 3 years) will not be considered eligible.
  • - The agency reserves the right to reject any volunteer who has ever been convicted of a crime or who has a pattern of offenses, whether they are major or minor.
  • - In screening volunteers, H.E.R.O. for Children, Inc. does not discriminate against any individual based on national origin, race, sex, sexual orientation, religion, or physical disability.
